The goals of the MNCY SCN are to:
- Provide a voice for patients and families in Alberta
- Utilize research and data to identify risks for each population subset and drive outcome based initiatives
- Recommend models of care to support rural access and sustainability of obstetrical service
- Address First Nation disparities
- Develop and recommend standards of practice based on evidence and research in the form of care paths, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
- Develop a coordinated approach to guide the health care journey of the medically complex child
- Enhance knowledge transfer and support expertise and competency development of health care providers
- Implement health promotion and illness prevention strategies
- Partner with other SCNs and support partners
