Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Accreditation & Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP)

The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program works to advance safe, high-quality care for bariatric surgical patients through the accreditation of bariatric surgical centers. National Surgery Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP)

The National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) uses clinical data to understand and improve performance.

NSQIP Teams are in place at:

These teams collect clinical data – including post-operative outcomes – and use this information to identify opportunities for improvement. Surgical teams and support staff within these sites implement the practice changes required to reduce surgical complications and improve the quality and safety of surgical care.

The teams come together annually for a Provincial Learning Collaborative to share their experiences to optimize the benefits of this program across participating sites.
