Traffic Flow Change

We wanted to share an important traffic flow change for the CapitalCare Norwood site. Effective Tuesday, September 21, 2021, east bound vehicles will no longer be able to make a left hand turn into CapitalCare Norwood via 111th Avenue. In addition, when exiting CapitalCare Norwood onto 111th Avenue there will be no left turn permitted. Please see the map for clarification. A friendly reminder that U-turns are not permitted along the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital drive way.

Construction on the $364 million CapitalCare Norwood Redevelopment Project continues to be on budget and on time.

The structure of the main building is complete and the envelope is ongoing on all building faces. All the major mechanical and electrical equipment has been delivered and placed on site. Inside interior framing, mechanical and electrical systems are being installed. Interior finishes are ongoing including the installation of epoxy, wall tile, paint, and millwork. Resident and patient rooms are starting to be painted and finished in parts of the buildings, while other rooms are just taking shape. The steam system outside the building footprint is almost complete.

Construction of the main building is expected to be completed in late 2022 and after commissioning work, it will be open to the public in the summer of 2023. After construction of main building is complete, the Angus McGuggan building will be renovated and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2024.

To accommodate construction activities some temporary changes will be made to parking and traffic flow at the Norwood Centre that will impact residents, visitors and staff.

Temporary visitor and staff parking is available in front of the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. (see map)

Other temporary parking spaces for Norwood and displaced GRH Blue Lot staff have also been established on the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital campus.

Visitors, and staff will access the temporary parking lots via 111th avenue and the Glenrose main driveway.
