Grande Prairie gets its name from the broad, sweeping plains that sprawl outward from the city in three directions. Alberta’s newest dinosaur museum, the Philip J. Currie Museum opened its doors in 2015. It houses a plethora of fossils from prehistoric land, air, and water creatures that have been found in the nearby Pipestone Creek Bonebed, just 30 minutes outside of the city.
