Building a Better Health System with the Voice of Our Community

Wisdom Council provides guidance and recommendations to ensure AHS develops and implements culturally appropriate and innovative health service delivery for Indigenous Peoples. Council focuses on Indigenous health priorities, services, and resources, and is made up of public members from across treaty areas and Alberta’s health zones.

Wisdom Council Recruitment

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is accepting expressions of interest from individuals who wish to sit on the Wisdom Council.

The Wisdom Council is an advisory board of dedicated people who speak as an Indigenous person to share their experiences to ensure AHS is providing culturally safe, accessible care for Indigenous peoples.

Indigenous specific services are delivered throughout the province in partnership with Indigenous peoples and organizations to provide high quality, culturally safe, accessible health care.

Participating in the Wisdom Council will allow you to have a voice in how healthcare is delivered to Indigenous peoples in Alberta.

AHS continues to explore how best to integrate advice and feedback into our health policies and practices to better serve Indigenous peoples in a culturally safe and appropriate way to rebuild trust and remove barriers within the system.

Interested people will be screened, interviewed and selected by current members of the Wisdom Council. For more information or to submit an expression of interest, please email wisdomcouncil@ahs.ca.
